# Troubleshooting

Fix common problems when you install and edit tweakcn themes.

## The font does not change

**Cause:** The theme names a font but does not load it.

**Fix:** Follow [Load the theme fonts](/guides/load-theme-fonts).

## The install command returns HTTP 500

**Cause:** You added `.json` to a saved theme URL.

**Fix:** Use `https://tweakcn.com/r/themes/<theme-id>` without `.json`. Only
presets use `.json`.

## My edits are not in the installed theme

**Cause:** You edited a preset and ran the preset command. The preset URL
always installs the original preset.

**Fix:** [Save the theme](/sharing/save-and-share) and install from the saved
theme URL, or copy the CSS from **Code**.

## A color does not change

**Cause:** The value applies on blur. Return alone does not apply it.

**Fix:** Press Tab after you type the value.

## Dark mode has the old colors

**Cause:** Each mode has its own colors.

**Fix:** Switch to dark mode and edit the colors again. See
[Modify a theme](/themes/modify-a-theme#change-colors).

## The CSS has `--tracking-normal: var(--tracking-normal);`

**Cause:** The install writes this line in `@theme inline`. The variable refers
to itself, so it has no value.

**Fix:** Change the line to use the letter spacing variable:

```css
--tracking-normal: var(--letter-spacing);
```

## Two hyphens change to a dash in the AI prompt

**Cause:** The prompt box changes `--` to an em dash.

**Fix:** Write token names without the `--` prefix, for example `primary`.

## The Import button is missing

**Cause:** The editor hides **Import** on narrow windows.

**Fix:** Make the window wider.

## I cannot use AI
